The Wonderful Barn, Leixlip, County Kildare

How many people out there are aware of this amazing building?

Built in 1743, the "Wonderful Barn", Leixlip, leaves all of our present-day architecture in the ha'penny place.  But how many Irish people are even aware of it?

Is it simply a case of "don't mention the famine(s)"?

What an incredible building, do you know if the structure is still sound?, and how come it was not demolished for the motorway? they only needed to move it over a few hundred yards, Bloody amateurs! things have gone to hell since i left this place!

As far as I know, Sam, the structure has stood the test of time. Local youth used it for cider parties and the rest until quite recently, until the council make it harder to get into.

Thank you for your courteous reply,
some of my masterpieces (the Central Bank for one!) were also used by the peasants
to enjoy themselves, but thankfully, the authorities soon put a stop to that.
As my good friend CJ always said to me "A man should be able to put his erections anywhere he damn well pleases"
(we have a lot of time to talk about the good old days down here)
have to go now, our boiling pitch is nearly ready,
Happy new year.
