DUP.ie Time to think the unthinkable?
Big thanks to a reader for bringing our attention to this one.
Anyone out there still want a united Ireland? Maybe the spoof site DUP.ie has the answer?
Ireland is bust - It's time to think the unthinkable.....
"...For in reason, all government without the consent of the governed is the very definition of slavery. "
Jonathan Swift
SO, IN THE WARM AFTERGLOW OF THE VISITS OF THE DALI LAMA, THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES AND QUEEN ELIZABETH IT IS TIME TO GRASP OUR DIFFICULTIES BY THE THROAT AND SAY YES WE CAN TO.............
More cutbacks and taxes..... More borrowings.... More houses being repossessed... More unemployment... More emigration... More Fire sale of State assets.... More corruption in the establishment... and eventually National Bankruptcy........
Em.... this is not really what we had in mind is it?
Our eighty nine year old independence experiment from the United Kingdom has failed.
We could have used those years to build a true republic, based on the ideals and intent of the founding fathers.
Instead, we have created a bankrupt country, once dominated by a cruel and sadistic catholic church, now dominated by a talentless, self serving, corrupt establishment of gombeen politicians, unaccountable civil servants and self promoting hangers-on.
Unless someone, somewhere, has a better idea, Reunion of this island as part of the United Kingdom provides a clear path towards prosperity for our state and happiness for our people. We do NOT believe our politicians have any idea how to get us out of our financial crisis much else have the vision and courage to ensure Ireland has a viable future as an independent country. We are doomed to the status of a bankrupt County Council of Greater Germany, somewhere off the coast of an uncaring Europe.
Sign up to our newsletter today and find out how we at the Democratic Unionist Party of the Republic of Ireland intend to build a better future for the next generations of Irishmen and Irishwomen.

The UK had a lucky escape they wouldn't want a corrupt backwater with an irredeemably insane culture back. They have their own problems but they pale into insignificance in comparison. They couldn't print money fast enough. Don't forget Joe and Mary still need the stretch Limo to get the bread and milk.
tis trooo for you GM , of course the irish lost the RESPECT of their generous friends in europe remember all the billions over 30yrs or so,only to see emerge a nation of thick jump up jackass stunting chancer gombeens, so totally corrupt and steeped in ignorance it was like watching a parade of drunk tinkers on horse back, it must have amused the foriegn embassies to see how pretentious and hubristic poor grubby auld dublin became 5 star restuarants complete with home grown tempramental celebrity chefs 5 star hotels, choppers, roolers bentlys, sitting in traffic for hrs onroads built for horse and cart by the brits 300 yrs ago of course the galway races a display of vulgarity hubris AND IGNORANCE yet to be surpassed ,then the church scandals meaningless public inquirys running for 15yrs, then ,BERTI BOLLICKS AHERN advising those warning of this madness to COMMIT SUICIDE coming from the prime minister no less, iam sure the embassies of other eu countries were all soooooh impressed by all this juvenile carry on and all on funnnnymunnnny, the irish media pegging irl as the second richest country in the wuuurld irl was to surpass SWITZERLAND LOL maybe they meant iceland, now its a begging bowl in both hands, how delusional and farcical the entire nation became will certainly be rembered in brussels for a long time CHEEERIO BH
EMMM GM as BH mentioned "our European friends" I was talking to a close UK confidant today and he was over to this renound republic only a couple of weeks ago and he asked why the people have become more leery than usual? Fightened the bjeepers out of him (not sure if that's a word). It reminded him of some horror film he saw as a child. I said it's fear. What do you think? Oh and by the way, t'is Eire and all should be fine. A national emergency wasn't called yet so all looks well.
@ BH. Yeah... richer than Switzerland, what a laugh. Those GDP figures can be very deceptive!
@ Dakota. Hard to say, my friend. I've always found them a pretty leery lot anyway!!!
The late John Healey in writing in the Irish Times summed up leadership in the Republic of Ireland when he wrote: "There goes the mob, I must follow them." Sadly there seems to be a ring of truth in that comment. However, whenever and wherever the Irish move away from the country they seem to blossom and do well. Is there something about the country that holds its citizens back?
@ Albert Hall (love the moniker).
You have to wonder, don't you? Certainly I dread to think just how oppressive this place was in the 50s and 60s... and I know what it was like in the 80s.
It's debatable just how much it's progressed. Not exactly the kind of society that encourages people to question orthodox beliefs, so maybe when Irish people break out of the place, they find they can think a bit more critically?
Some of them anyway. The others will be down the pub in Kilburn or Manhattan singing "A nation once again".
I am sorry to say that the same people who bankrupted the Irish Nation are alive and well as are those in the British one. With luck we will lose the Scottish Nation and, perhaps the Welsh to the EU. We are stuck with the Six Counties.
I have a long experience of Ireland in the 70's. However, the people were wonderful then and seemed to carry on regardless. Whatever it is the Irish have it is a shame that there is not more of it in the UK.
The brits are more in debt than us. They are a complete basket case. Plus the city of London with their pals in Wall Street are behind these attacks on EU countries to deflect attention from the sinking ships that are the Pound Sterling and the Dollar. If we are looking to join up with another country at least choose one that has balls, like Iceland. They (the Icelandic people not the ruling class, obviously) told Gordon Brown and the european banksters to go f**k themselves and now their economy (surprise, surprise) in on the up. The Irish unleash their pent up anger by voting for Fine Gael and Labour..we are a living joke.
All hail our Iclandic overlords....

Thank you for your comment Anonymous but trying to hive off the problems in Ireland by loading them on to Britain does not work. Although the debt on the UK may be bigger than that of Ireland, the rate at which the UK can borrow money is equal to that of Germany, because the Money Men have trust in the UK's ability to pay it back. We even have enough shillings in the bank to loan a couple of billions to our friend and neighbour - the Irish Republic, and our Chancellor of the Exchequer was singing Ireland's praises in Europe recently. The past week, when the USA fell out of the sky and Europe and the EU joined it, the powers to be there had not one idea of what to do; yet it was reported that the UK was THE country to put your money in. If you still had the Punt linked to the Pound you may have been able to devalue you currency making things a lot easier for your exports from the country I enjoy visiting and my new Irish family.
